You might find a few words on your bottles of bourbon that you aren’t quite familiar with. MB Roland Distillery wants you to be “in-the-know”

 

• Uncut

 

• • Uncut means that the bourbon is not diluted with water to a lower proof before bottling. 

 

• Unfiltered

 

• • Bourbon is sometimes chill-filtered when pulled from the barrel. Some distilleries dilute and filter their products before bottling to get to a different proof and to filter some of the sediment from the barrel. This process also takes away some of the flavor. At MB Roland, we want you to get the full flavor out of each and every bottle.

 

• Still Proof

 

• • At MB Roland we distill our spirit at a relatively low proof (110 proof/55% ABV), and then fill our barrel without any dilution or watering down. We call this “Still Proof”.

 

• Straight Bourbon

 

• • Along with all the other rules for being called “bourbon,” in order to be labeled straight bourbon, the whiskey must also be aged at least 2 years.

 

• Blended

 

• • Most bourbons are blends. Multiple barrels are pooled to create a consistent flavor. 

 

• Single Barrel

 

• • Unlike the blended bourbon from different barrels, some barrels have a distinct flavor that MB Roland finds that stand alone as far a flavor. We bottle everything from that one barrel. When you purchase one of these “Single Barrel” bottles, it will be one of a kind.
