The original “dark fired” spirit! Smoky and sweet, made using our own “dark fired” corn, rye and malted barley.
We smoke a portion of the white corn used in making the Black Dog ourselves, using a centuries old tradition known locally as “dark firing”. Our distillery is located in the heart of Kentucky’s Black Patch region, where dark fired tobacco is still a large part of the economy. The tobacco is grown, harvested, and hung in barns where it is smoked for weeks to get a beautiful flavor and nose. An amazingly versatile spirit that can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or mixed in a cocktail. Try it in a Bloody Mary or simply mix it with an almond liqueur (equal portions) for a Smoked Almond.
